A Southern California Weekend Getaway
By: Colleen Lanin, The Travel MamaMay 22nd, 2010
This weekend my family is headed to the OC. Inspired by the Travel Mamas guest blog post Orange County with Kids – Beyond Disneyland we’ve decided to check out a couple of the family-friendly sites recommended by Katie of the OC Mom Activities blog. Irvine Park with its miniature train and paddle boats sounds lovely, but then so does tide pooling at Crystal Cove Beach, which was also recommended by Travel Mamas Guest Blogger Sharlene Earnshaw of Double the Adventure and Trekaroo in 5 of California’s Best & Most Diverse Beaches.

On Sunday, we’re headed to Disneyland. I’m excited to visit the park now that my youngest is a tad older. Visiting with a baby is oh-so-much-fun but seeing Disney through the eyes of a toddling two-year-old is magical! Do your summer travel plans include a trip to see Mickey Mouse? Check out my Top 10 Disneyland Rides & Attractions for Babies & Toddlers. If Disney World is your destination of choice, maybe you’d prefer Epcot’s Best Rides & Hidden Treasures for Kids.

Have fun travel mama
. We just got back from a beautiful cultural arts day at our local library.
Thanks, Bridget! We had a great time. Sounds like you had a great weekend too!
Disneyland and the OC are great places to bring your family. I have been there numerous times and each and every time are wonderful memories. Though recently we switched it up and went to Santa Barbara. About 90 minutes North of LA, it is a great beach town with loads of things to do for all ages. There is so much culture in this town, it’s wonderful, truly. we also stayed at a great place actually, The Sandman Inn (www.thesandmaninn.com). Really affordable and the kids loved it. They had some fun times playing in the pool all day long!
