The Little Experience Create It, Stitch It, or Knit It Kits
These kits come with everything needed to make these fun crafts. There’s no need to worry… do I have the scissors? Glue? Knitting needles? Yarn? There are simpler kits for age three and up, more complicated kits for age eight and up, and many in between. Create It, Stitch It, or Knit It Kits are appropriate for all types of travel, but a travel tray of some sort helps keep things organized.

we play games along the ride. we do alphabet games that educate! i will start with an A animal and then we rotate! Its alot of fun. Another game we made up is when we want for xmas or birthday…and its a guessing game.
Pack an emergency kit just in case your child becomes ill. Some items to include are pain reliever, band-aids, and a thermometer.
When I travel with my kids, I chose locations that offer bus tours which pick us up at our hotel and deliver us to local amusement parks (such as Disneyland). The groups from tour buses don’t wait in line. They’re taken straight to the head of the line and my kids can’t argue about which ride to go on first because the rides are picked out beforehand by the organizers of the tour.
Don’t overdue it when packing toys, books, etc… the stuff gets too heavy and bringing too much stuff is annoying and creates stress. You will not use it! Kids can find the interesting ways to entertain them selves in new situations and places ie; things at the sirport, hotel lobbys, etc…Our kids always seem to find other kids and so they are busy making friends instead of playing with the 15 toys we brought:)
When I travel with my little gal, I make sure to have healthy snacks in the car. I’ll never forget the time we got stuck for 90 minutes behind some road construction! We all got hungry and I was so glad that I packed some extra snacks for the trip! Thanks.
Tweet, thanks!

When traveling with young’uns, always, always leave early to mid evening, ESPECIALLY by car. Eat on the road and most times, kiddies will sleep through the night. You could be more than half way to where you are going by the time they wake and then potty & breakfast, some snack, easy to read books or illustrations for the really tots. In vehicle DVD or portable DVD is great too!
We have a special chldren’s size carry-on that my little boy will fill with new toys he can play with on the plane. Our portable dvd player with is favorite dvd’s will help (I hope) as well
Before the kids we would drive until we couldn’t drive anymore or saw a neat place to stop. Now we plan the drive around places to eat and kid friendly hotels. We try to stop at gas stations that also serve Truckers because they are friendly and have more areas of grass for some running around. Normally, after three-five days in a car those stops are what make the difference. Plus, we travel with two large dogs so we have to be child and pet travel wise…
OMGosh, don’t even think about leaving the driveway without books on tape! Entertain the kids for the entire trip!
Leaving today on a ROAD TRIP with my two little ones and here is what I have packed – LOW SUGAR snacks – you don’t want them getting more anty then they already are. SURPRISE activity books – something they have not seen – books on tape, DS games (2 new ones) coloring books for a coloring “contest” – and the OLD STAND by if things get wild – a portable DVD and movie. I always save that for when it gets dark in the car.
Another great tip for keeping the kids entertained are the craft pipe cleaners – take up hardly any space and you can challenge each other to make different shapes, or animals and for an added bit of fun make it comepetitive – ‘first to make a cat’ – then have a laugh at the results.
I love all of these great tips! The “what do I want for Christmas” guessing game sounds like a lot of fun! And I will definitely need to try out the pipe cleaner contests when my youngest gets a wee older!
Thank you to everyone who entered the contest! A winner has been selected at random and has been notified via email. If I don’t receive a response from the winner within 48 hours, that person will forfeit the prize and a second entrant will be selected.
